How we get the personal information and why we have it:

 

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

Arrange, confirm, or cancel appointments.

Make an enquiry about our services.

Book an initial consultation.

 

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

 

Contact you to arrange, confirm or cancel an appointment.

Reply to an enquiry you have made about our services.

Book an initial consultation.

Know who to contact in the event of an emergency.

We never share this information with any other organisation.

 

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

 

We have a legitimate interest.

This is because we process your data in the ways you would reasonably expect. It is necessary to process it to achieve the result needed. We have to use your information in order to support your interests of using Cathartic Counselling services and to be able to deliver the service you require.

 

Your confidentiality is of upmost importance and we will not disclose any information you provide to any third parties apart from the following:

 

·       If I am required to disclose information as requested by a subpoena from a Court of Law (Data Protection Act 2018). 

·       For the prevention of certain crimes which include: Acts of terrorism, Drug trafficking, Money laundering (this will be explained further during contracting before we start work together)

·       Where safeguarding of vulnerable child or person deems this necessary

·       If there are concerns of cause serious harm to self or others

·       Also, as part of my ethical conduct, I must take part in my own supervision, with a qualified counselling supervisor to ensure I am working with you to the best of my ability. During my supervision sessions, I will discuss the work we do, but I will not disclose any information that would identify you.

 

How we store your personal information

 

Your information is securely stored.

All paperwork is stored in a locked cabinet at a secure location that only Tammy Lewis will have access to.

Your name and telephone number and will be stored on my work mobile that is password protected.

Your contact information will be stored on my laptop that is password protected.

We keep your name and contact details and aide-memoire notes for 7 years and then deleted accordingly.

We will keep your contactable name and number in my phone for one month and then delete if you wish for me to delete this sooner then please advise me to do so.

 

Your data protection rights

 

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

·       Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

·       Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

·       Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

·       Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

·       Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

·       Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

·       You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
